Gobi
High-Score Sewer Climb
This game was created for ScoreSpace Jam #19. Over the course of 3 days the goal was to create a game based around the theme of 'Parkour' that also incorporated the LootLocker scoreboard system in some way.

Our team idea was to create a game where the main tool for parkouring was a jump that has to be built up before releasing. The buildup would determine how much distance the character travels. This would apply to both grounded jump and wall jumps. The goal of the game is to jump and wall jump your way to the top of the level as fast as possible. The less time you take, the more points are earned at the end. Along the way we also included a "Trick" ability, in which the character can strike a pose midair to gain extra points and slightly slow their fall.

After researching different animals that can jump high, we chose to make our character a gobi jerboa, a desert rodent found in China and Mongolia. For the setting, we needed a place where vertical traversal made sense, as well as where something would be chasing our character from the bottom. We decided on a sewer, where a wave of sewage rises as the player jumps their way to the surface. This setting also gave us the idea to include junk such as cans and bottles scattered throughout the level that the player can walk into and "kick" for extra points.

I worked on all the art and animation for the game. This included creating Gobi's (the player character's) sprite sheets, the sewer tilesets, the background, the menu buttons, and the effects.
